Shutt Goes to the Cycle Show – 20th October ’10
Shutt goes to the cycle show
As some of you may know; from our newsletter, a “Pete Tweet” or even if you stumbled across us while browsing the stands at Earls Court; we made our inaugural appearance at the UK Cycle show last weekend.
From my quick dance around the aisles and rows of stands I could draw one conclusion from the state of cycling in the UK at the moment. We love it. Not only do we love it, but we love changing it, we love modifying it and more so we love to get involved in it. There is a massive range of products on the market from clothing to bikes themselves to cycle orientated services. Here’s a snapshot if what we saw:
Though we weren’t at the show solely for the fun, games and to play with bikes, we were there for another reason. To meet the people that have made Shutt a success so far, and to show you all the new gear we have in the pipeline.
This brings me to mention a few things about my favourite few products we have at the moment. To begin with, the Gilet is something really special; personally I’ll admit that I never quite saw the point in them, until I tried one of our first editions after being caught short, out on a long, cold, wet ride. Form and function is as ever the main aim of any piece of our kit something we have tweaked for this seasons Gilet, a new material. Lighter, more waterproof and of course windproof, now though, we have added some discreet zips on either side of the back panel to allow access to jersey pockets, something that was very well received at the cycle show.
The next piece is the winter jacket, if I were to write a blog on the cycle show and not include this I wouldn’t be representing just how well this jacket went down, and I wouldn’t be doing it justice. Made with Swiss Eschler fabric, supplied as the top end industry standard of wind and water proofing along with being lightweight and breathable, this is our flagship product to deliver performance in extreme conditions yet retain the understated design and appeal of Shutt that we’ve all come to recognise.
Obviously as cyclists ourselves being able to have 4 days free reign at the show was a bit of a guilty pleasure. Though not much happens after closed doors, expect giving us chance to catch our breath and sample one of Ilkley’s local breweries finest. If anyone came down and saw us at the show, get in touch and let us know your thoughts.

I popped in and spent several hours really enjoying myself on the Saturday.
As expected, you guys were all extremely friendly and generous with your time, and the reaction of those around me who had not come across ShuttVR before was universally positive.
As we’ve already chatted about over twitter, you need a bigger stand to better display your range, make everything less cluttered and give the crowds that gathered the chance to properly interact with the quality of your workmanship, which is something you’re working on for next year already.
What were your highlights?
I enjoyed a good catch up with Carradice… Nice stuff.. Loved the Bianchi on the stand opposite!
I loved the general buzz of the event, so much to see. Plus being fuelled for a weekend off free samples of energy bars, gels and drinks was interesting!
Also, I now have a soft spot for moulton’s…
Great to have a nose around and live on free Campagnolo espresso, Mule bars and a variety of energy drinks.
Highlight for me would be the Condor, Moulton and Exposure stands.
