April fool!

Crit Crit Racing Criterium Hillingdon

April fool!

As the season is starting to get going, I decided pretty spontaneously to make the long drive down to Hillingdon cycle track for the 2/3/4 circuit race. Literally woke up, thought "Yeah, why not" checked online what time the race started (or if there was even one to begin with!) and got everything ready to go. Parked up and bumped into my team mate George Day who'd done quite well the previous week. I also bumped into Sam Calder of Morvelo Basso who I'd been on a training camp with last month. He'd finally gotten over his long term chest...

Abingdon Winter Series - Race 2

2/3/4 Race Won't say it was bitterly cold because I have been colder. Won't say the wind was murder because I've raced in worse! Then again, not far off. Just last week it felt like spring was almost here, the daffodils at home in the Barfords have already started making an appearance... Before you say "Hey, they're here too" these are next year's ones! I suppose it's what one must consider when entering a bike race in early February. The highest points scorer of the last 3 races will win a free training camp in Tenerife including accommodation and flights. You will get personal one to one coaching for the week, and receive the benefits of...

Brivelo Autumn Crit Series - Round 1

I thought my season was over with October rolling in all too quickly until I spotted a Facebook post from local coaching outfit ‘Brivelo’. They have organised a ‘point grabbing‘ series at the MK Bowl which is a course suits me pretty well! I came into this season late due to myself and my partner buying our first house. It's been a good season too with a win (here at the Bowl) and a 10th place in Abingdon in a cat 2/3/4 race. The only slight down side is that we have a race team get together at Jool the night...

Singing in the rain!

British Cycling Crit Racing MK Bowl Shutt Velo Rapide

Singing in the rain!

For reasons too boring to share here I had to stop off in IKEA on the way to my 3rd Cat race at the MK Bowl tonight. As I emerged blinking into the daylight from the Maze of Dreams I noticed that the promised rain had arrived, in buckets. Literally. It was bouncing off the tarmac. This was good news. Crits at The Bowl usually consist of a half-hour round the non-technical inner loop and in the last 30 mins a more technical section is opened up. But due to the high-speed cornering and dodgy surfacing, rain usually means the race is...
