Shutt were pleased to be exhibiting at the London Bike Show this year with the event set to be bigger than ever. It was really great to be able to chat to old and new customers, everyone loved getting a chance to see our products up close and personal, sometimes a photograph online just doesn’t cut it when it comes to making a decision about a purchase. From the Shutt stand we ran a competition to guess the year the frame of a vintage bike was built. There was a lot of head scratching and some serious thought going in to everyone’s answers as the prize at stake was a rather fabulous one – a year’s supply of Shutt kit worth over £700. For those who did enter the competition results will be announced tomorrow!
The bike was rescued from my Dad’s shed last summer and has slowly been refurbished with a mixture of vintage parts in keeping with the look of the frame.
Now let me show you some highlights from the show…
Brompton were show casing their new limited edition Barça bike, a city-inspired bike designed in collaboration with artist David Torrents. Featuring a limited edition saddle, mudguards, decals and gloss finish.
“A Keen Brompton Rider himself, David has always had an eye for the unique paving style that can be found around the Catalan capital – these shapes are incorporated into the S Bag flap. Along with geometric shapes, the artist’s love for vibrant colours comes out on the bike and reflects this colourful and exciting city.”
There were some quirky offerings from Electra Bikes.
As always our friends at Spin Cycles gave us something to drool over, including new team bikes and new etched headbadges.
A Vintage Light Blue Bike gets the award for biggest chain ring at the show.
A very welcome addition to the show was the IG sponsored Nocturne racing, including a Penny farthing race – bizarre or just plain crazy! I’ll let you decide.
Hopefully the weather didn’t stop too many of you getting come to the show, I must say however that it did cause us a long journey home to Oxfordshire – the show closed at 6pm and we were at home tucked up in bed at 1am!
Shortly I’ll be uploading lots more bike show pictures for your viewing delight – keep an eye on Shutt’s Flickr photostream
Heres to next year!
